World Series Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51 million watchers across the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this represents the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game drew over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series matchup after the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership was 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M viewers, an 8% increase over last year and the network’s best postseason ratings after the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen various languages.
