Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the party enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Planners parties.

Fans can anticipate learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
